Truth be told, it’s the mother of all sneaker conventions, and for us at team MATE a must-attend event: The Sneakerness in Cologne!
Last weekend we hit the road to meet sneakerheads from all around Europe, catch up with old friends and to celebrate the release of the highly anticipated “7 Bridges”-Sneakerness Collaboration with KangaRoos.
Former post office and now home to Sneakerness, “X-Post” factory building was packed. With lines longer than on a Thursday in front of any Supreme Store around the globe, this year’s event was more successful than ever.
As usual, next to well-known stores selling their last pairs for a bargain, private sellers brought out their holy grails and collector´s items. But it wasn`t only shoes. Stalls stuffed with hyped apparel and accessories from Supreme, Gosha and Off White were well received, especially by kids – not so by their parents though.
Fila installed a big booth showcasing their new line for the upcoming season and so did high quality backpack label pinqponq. Deadstock Sneakerblog sold his new Dead Stuff Merch and Crepe Protect came to clean your shoes and shoot some hoops. Foot Locker came back from the future and brought out a Nike Mag as well as a 360° Selfie Machine for Sneakers. Dutch tattooist Douglas from “Identify Tattooing” provided sneaker love that goes under your skin and if that wasn’t enough, you even had the chance to grab your hands on the new KangaRoos x Sneakerness Collab “7-Bridges”. A homage to the seven bridges crossing the Rhine, symbolizing the fairs deep roots to cologne.
All in all it was a round affair and very well organized from the guys over at Sneakerness. We are looking forward to the next one and in the meantime share some impressions from last weekend with you.
